I recently had the pleasure of presenting our work at the 2012 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Cannes Lions is considered the ‘Oscars for the Advertising Industry,’ and brings together some of the top leaders in media, publishing, technology and advocacy. I was honored to be invited by one of our funders, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to give a talk to the international audience of 13,000.
Our session was entitled “Can your idea change the world?” and focused on the creative process associated with technology innovation. I spoke about our work to develop biochar-based sanitation systems in Western Kenya. I also discussed the process of applying and securing funding from the Gates Foundation. The Foundation recently announced $1M in grant funding for creative or advertising industry professionals who seek to develop new narratives on foreign aid.
We are always excited to bring our work to a new audience, and are very grateful for this opportunity. To view highlights from our session, check out the below youtube video.
